Blacklake

Blacklake, between Santa Maria and Pismo Beach, is the Central Coast’s only 27-hole golf resort. Enjoy sparkling water pools and scenic coastal hills, as well as the unspoiled natural beauty of the newest nine, the “Oaks.” Blacklake is conservation conscious, too—the grass is irrigated with recycled water.

For “Preferred Rate” discounts at Blacklake, inquire at the front desk. From the SeaVenture, go south on US 101 to Tefft Street in Nipomo, go right on Tefft, right on Pomeroy Road, drive one mile past a red barn and turn left on Willow Road. The golf course is the second entrance on the right.

Avila Beach

Avila Beach Golf Course is located three miles off Highway 101 between San Luis Obispo and Pismo Beach. Nestled in the surrounding hills and on the bay, the resort includes a par 71, 6500-yard championship course. The front nine is situated within oak-lined valleys. The back nine traverses a tidal estuary.

For “Preferred Rate” discounts at Avila Beach Golf Course, inquire at the hotel front desk.

Facilities include McPhee’s Grill pro shop, pro instruction, golf packages. While in the area, check out the town of Avila Beach and its quaint shops. A visit to the pier is a must.

From the SeaVenture, go north on US 101 for seven miles, take the Avila Beach exit off Highway 101, turn left and follow posted road signs to the Resort.


Cypress Ridge

Cypress Ridge, an Audubon Signature Sanctuary, is managed with emphasis on habitat enhancement, wildlife conservation, integrated pest management, and efficiency of water, waste and energy use. Online specials available.

Directions: From the SeaVenture, take US 101 South toward Arroyo Grande. Exit Hwy 101 at Halcyon Road in Arroyo Grande. Go straight at off ramp onto Halcyon. Go through town and turn left at Hwy 1. Make an immediate right back onto Halcyon. Go straight at the stop sign at the top of the hill. Continue straight past the next stop sign. Make the first right at Cypress Ridge Parkway. Follow into parking lot and pro shop on the right.


Laguna Lake

Laguna Lake is San Luis Obispo’s municipal, nine-hole executive length course. It offers a driving range, club and hand cart rentals and lessons from its PGA teaching professional.

The course is open daily from 7:00 a.m. until dusk. Tee time reservations are accepted one day in advance by dialing (805) 781-7309.

Fees for the first nine holes on weekdays range from $11 for adults to $9 for youth and seniors. Weekend and Holiday prices differ. 10 play cards are $97.50 for adults and $82.50 for youth and seniors.

To get there from the SeaVenture, take US 101 North to San Luis Obispo. Exit at Madonna Street, go left at the intersection, and drive 3 minutes to Laguna Lake on the right.


Morro Bay

Lovely Morro Bay Golf Course is one of several San Luis Obispo County recreation facilities. The short drive from the golf course up to the Black Hill view area is well worth the time, and for spectacular 360º views, take the 15-minute walk up to the top of Black Hill.

Directions: Drive north on US 101 to San Luis Obispo and follow signs for Hwy 1 to Morro Bay and Hearst Castle. Drive approximately 11 miles on Hwy 1 and exit on Los Osos/Baywood Park. Turn left onto South Bay Boulevard. After approximately 7/10 of a mile, make a right onto State Park Road. The golf course will be on your right.


Dairy Creek

Dairy Creek Golf Course is the newest of the three courses operated by the County of San Luis Obispo. With dramatic elevation changes, rocky arroyos, and forced carries over water, it offers a true test of golf, without disturbing the natural habitats and beauty of the land. Built along rolling hills, the par 71 course offers enchanting views of the surrounding El Chorro valley and majestic Hollister Peak.

Directions: Drive north on US 101 to San Luis Obispo and follow signs to Hwy 1 to Morro Bay and Hearst Castle. Follow Hwy 1 past the Cal Poly entrance and Stenner Creek Road, and look for El Chorro Regional Park on the right, opposite Cuesta College.


Rancho Maria

Rancho Maria is located in the foothills on State Highway 1, five miles southwest of Santa Maria. It is a full service 18-hole championship public golf course. Rancho Maria was voted one of the best places to play in Golf Digest in 2008. Weekday green fees are $16 for 9 holes and $28 for 18 holes. Weekend green fees are $20 for 9 holes and $35 for 18 holes.

Directions: Drive south on US 101 for 25 miles, and take the Clark Avenue exit. Turn right on E. Clark Avenue, then right onto Hwy 1. The golf club will be on the right.

Monarch Dunes features both the award-winning championship "Old Course" as well as the newly opened 12-hole Challenge Course, both designed by Damian Pascuzzo & Steve Pate. The course is surrounded by windswept dunes, eucalyptus trees, coastal vistas and amber-colored hillsides. Monarch Dunes Golf Club is reminiscent of the true links-style courses found in Scotland and a "must-play" for those who seek a challenging, yet amiable, unspoiled golf adventure.
